Loss of Power

The car has lost all power, and you may be able to smell exhaust gas inside the Evoque.
Solution:
Your head gasket has blown. Luckily, we always have these in stock and can deliver them to you quickly. Replacing a head gasket is a lot easier than you might think too.

Bumpy Ride
Problem:
You can feel every bump in the road while driving, and the car is leaning to one side.
Solution:
The air suspension in the Evoque is a known trouble spot, and most drivers will end up needing to replace the worn air suspension system with more traditional coils. While this can be a big and challenging job to do yourself, there are a lot of guides that can walk you through each step, and you can easily buy low-cost coils from our store.
Difficulty level
Limited View On Rear Camera
Problem:
You aren't getting the full view from your reverse camera.
Solution:
The tailgate on the Evoque is well known for frequent misalignment. Unfortunately, that will mean that the rear camera is also aligned incorrectly, meaning that your view is much more limited. While not a major issue, if you want to resolve it, then you'll need to remove the tailgate and reinstall it more accurately. You may need to buy a complete replacement tailgate from our drop-down list of Evoque parts in some cases.
Difficulty level
Struggling With Gear Changes
Problem:
It's becoming harder to move between gears, with the gear stick getting stiffer and stiffer.
Solution:
The gearbox is a known weak spot for the Evoque, and they tend to wear out quickly. You'll need to find a replacement gearbox unit on our parts list, remove the worn one, and install one that works more effectively.
Difficulty level
Flywheel failure
Problem:
On vehicles with the Start/Stop technology, the flywheel is prone to early wear due to the constant starting and stopping. If you are having excessive vibration through the clutch pedal, this will be the most likely cause.
Solution:
Land Rover should fix this under warranty otherwise you will be responsible for the repair yourself. We can help you find a replacement flywheel at a very low price.
Difficulty level
Tailgate alignment
Problem:
There are known issues with the tailgate alignment on the Evoque. This poor alignment can also mean that the reverse camera on the dashboard could be slightly out and you cannot get a full picture.
Solution:
Fixing the alignment can be a time consuming process, which results in high costs. If the vehicle is under warranty, Land Rover will fix the problem free of charge.
Difficulty level
Automatic gearbox problems
Problem:
Automatic gearbox problems on the Evoque are fairly common. These gearbox problems can vary greatly and can be caused from a software fault to actuator problems, right up to problems with the gearbox itself.
Solution:
If your vehicle is under warranty you will want to take the vehicle to the dealer to fix the problem. Otherwise it could vary greatly from a software update, replacement actuator to a replacement gearbox.

Door check strap rattling
Problem:
Are you hearing a rattling noise coming from the door check strap as you open/close the door? If so, the door check strap mounting is known for coming loose on the Evoque. The check strap is the metal band which connects the inside of the door to the A-pillar on the vehicle.
Solution:
You need to tighten the door check strap to fix the problem.
Difficulty level
Loss of Steering
Problem:
The steering wheel is not as responsive as it should be.
Solution:
You have a problem with the knuckle on the lower control arm of the front suspension. The bolt that holds it in pace will likely have come loose and will need to be tightened. A Land Rover dealer will tend to install a protection system for free to prevent the issue from happening again.
Difficulty level
Using too Much Fuel
Problem:
You have to fill up with fuel a lot more than you used to.
Solution:
In some Evoques built between May 2015 and January 2018, a poorly designed fuel rail was installed in the engine bay. They tend to leak quite badly, and you're going to find that you need to replace yours. Look for a new fuel rail on our site, have it delivered, and replace the faulty one.
Difficulty level
Smell of Fuel in Car
Problem:
You can smell fuel inside your car and can see fuel on the floor when you've been parked for a while.
Solution:
You will have a loose locking ring, meaning that your fuel pump is not being held in place. The locking ring should be tightened, which you can do yourself. You may also have damage to the fuel pump itself, in which case you will have to order a new one from our parts page and replace the damaged one.
Difficulty level
Wrong Fuel Level Readout
Problem:
Your fuel meter is giving you an incorrect reading.
Solution:
In most cases, this will be a simple case of ordering a replacement fuel sensor from us and exchanging it for the faulty one. However, some Evoques have had issues with the fuel gauge system itself, which can also lead to false readings. You will need to replace the entire system, which can be quite challenging.
Difficulty level
Loose Seat Belt
Problem:
The second-row seatbelt feels very loose, even when locked into place.
Solution:
A number of Evoques were rolled out in 2020 that had the wrong seat belt retractor part installed. You will need to replace it, which you can do by easily finding a new one on our Evoque parts page.
