The Maxus was a large van model which had been in production since 2004. It was originally produced under the LDV Limited marque, as a joint development between LDV and Daewoo Motors in a five-year development programme. General Motors'' later acquired the Daewoo brand, which meant that LDV secured the rights to the vehicle and moved production from the Daewoo plant in Poland to LDV''s manufacturing site in Birmingham. A Maxus model is also produced under the GAZ brand, a cooperative enterprise between Ford and the Soviet Union. The Maxus won a number of awards, including the Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine Van of the Year 2005, as well as Minibus of the Year and Combi of the Year.
