Lexus GS450h Common Problems and Solutions
Handling problems
Problem:
There have been reports of poor handling on the GS450h. The video below shows the car continually pulling to one side. The most common cause of this fault appears to be the electric power steering system.
Solution:
Have Lexus inspect this, and hopefully it's covered under warranty.

Battery pack failure
Problem:
There have been a few reports of the battery pack failing on the GS450h. As this car is a hybrid, it operates on both petrol and a battery pack. Replacing the battery pack can be very costly.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement battery pack to resolve this issue. The battery should last at least 8 years, and if yours has failed earlier, contact Lexus to try to get it fixed free of charge. If you are under warranty, it will be covered regardless.

Transmission problems
Problem:
Are you experiencing issues with the transmission on your 450h? If so, there are two main problems commonly associated with this gearbox: a known issue with low pressure transmission fluid and an incorrect gear ratio. Typical symptoms of these faults include the check engine management warning light appearing on the dashboard and/or the check hybrid system warning light. Both issues appear to be related to a faulty oil pressure switch.
Solution:
Fitting a replacement oil pressure switch should resolve the issue. If this does not solve the problem, have Lexus inspect it to determine the exact cause. If your vehicle is still under warranty, you should be able to have it repaired free of charge at your Lexus dealer; otherwise, the cost of the repair is your responsibility. We aim to help you find a replacement oil switch at a very affordable price.
