Handling problems
Problem:
There have been reports of poor handling on the GS450h. The video below shows the car continually pulling to one side. The most common cause of this failure seems to be the electric power steering system.
Solution:
Have Lexus check this out, and hopefully you have this covered under warranty.

Battery pack failure
Problem:
There have been a few reports of the battery pack failing on the GS450h. As this car is a hybrid, it runs on both a petrol and battery pack. Replacing the battery pack can be very expensive.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement battery pack, in order to fix this issue. The battery pack should last at least 8 years, and if yours has failed before this, you should contact Lexus and try to get this fixed free of charge. If you are under warranty, it will be covered anyway.

Transmission problems
Problem:
Are you having any problems with the transmission on your 450h? If so, there are two main issues that seem to happen with this gearbox: There is a known issue with low pressure transmission fluid and with an incorrect gear ratio. Common symptoms of these failures are for the check engine management warning light to appear on the dashboard, and/or check hybrid system warning light. Both these failures seem to be related to an issue with a faulty oil pressure switch.
Solution:
Fitting a replacement oil pressure switch, should rectify the problem. If this is not the issue, have Lexus look at it, in order to decipher the exact nature of the problem. If your vehicle is still under warranty, you should be able to get this fixed free of charge at your Lexus dealer, otherwise the cost of the repair is your responsibility. We want to help you to find a replacement oil switch, at a very low price.
