Lexus RX 450h Common Problems and Solutions
Noisy Brakes
Problem:
You can hear a loud grinding noise when you apply the brake.
Solution:
It's extremely likely that your callipers are clamping onto the brake disc. Check the whole wheel area to identify which one is making all of the noise. Browse our parts list for a replacement calliper and remove the faulty one.

Airbag Malfunction
Problem:
Your airbag may not deploy correctly if you have a collision.
Solution:
The big problem here is that you might not know that anything is wrong until you have an accident. If your Lexus was built before June 13th 2016, then you need to take it to a Lexus dealer to make sure that the passenger airbag is going to function correctly. They will replace a faulty one for free if your Lexus is affected.

Engine Stalling
Problem:
Your Lexus keeps stalling.
Solution:
If your RX was built between September 2013 and May 2019, then you likely have a problem with the low-pressure fuel pump. It will have developed a surface crack on the impeller, causing it to deform and preventing the fuel pump from working. You can order a new fuel pump direct from BreakerYard, and it's an easy DIY job.

Washer Jets Not Working
Problem:
The washer jets aren't working anymore, even though the reservoir is full.
Solution:
The heating element in the washer jets does not respond well to water, and if your Lexus was built between May 2015 and February 2018, then a defective material was used. That material is allowing moisture to come into contact with the heating elements, causing a short circuit and (in worst-case scenarios) increasing the potential for a fire. You'll need to replace the washer jet system entirely with the updated design, which you can find on our parts list.
