DPF warning light

Problem:

Has the DPF warning light appeared on the dashboard of your diesel Mazda2? The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is known for becoming clogged if you only use the car for short journeys, such as around town. You may also notice a loss of power and/or misfiring when your car is experiencing this issue.

Models affected:

Solution:

The first step is to take the car onto an open road and drive at 2500rpm or higher for about 10-15 minutes to allow the DPF to heat up sufficiently and burn off the unwanted particles. If the DPF warning light stays on after this, you will need to manually clean the DPF to remove the gunk. Watch the video below to see how to do this. If it still does not work, you will need to replace the DPF to resolve the issue.
