Mazda 3 Common Problems and Solutions
Rattling noise from rear of car
Problem:
If you hear a rattling noise coming from the rear of the car, it is most likely caused by a faulty rear brake light mount. This is on the third brake light positioned at the centre on top of the hatchback. The noise will be more noticeable when you drive over speed bumps or rough roads.
Solution:
You will need to replace the third brake light mounting to resolve this issue. We can assist you in finding a replacement mounting at a very low price.

Misfiring/lack of power
Problem:
The throttle body can become clogged with a build-up of carbon. When the throttle body is blocked, you may experience issues such as rough idling and a lack of power when trying to accelerate. The engine revs should stay steady during idling and should not fluctuate erratically.
Solution:
You can remove the throttle body and clean out the carbon build-up to resolve the issue. Use a small brush (like a toothbrush) and something similar to carb cleaner to clean it thoroughly. Watch the video below to see how to do this yourself and save a lot of money in the process.

Boot release mechanism failure
Problem:
Are you noticing that the boot is not opening or closing properly? The boot release button is made of rubber and tends to degrade early on the Mazda3. When this part wears out, water can leak into the mechanism, preventing it from functioning correctly.
Solution:
If you address this problem early, you will only need to replace the button; however, if the water has completely damaged the mechanism, you will need to fit a new boot release mechanism and button to resolve the issue. If the car is still under warranty, Mazda will repair the problem free of charge.

Squealing From Engine
Problem:
A squealing noise is coming from the engine.
Solution:
Especially with Demios built between 1998 and 2001, the cambelt is vulnerable to wear and tear. Open the bonnet to check your cambelt's condition. If it appears glazed or glossy, it needs replacing. Usually, this should be done every 60,000 miles or five years. We always stock cambelts for Demio, so you can have yours delivered quickly.
