Mazda Premacy Common Problems and Solutions
Overheating Engine
Problem:
The engine is getting too hot, and the check engine light is illuminated.
Solution:
Although all cars can experience engine overheating issues, on the Premacy the most likely cause is the engine cooling fan. The cooling fan control module is well known for failing early on the Premacy, and you will need to order a replacement from us. The good news is that installing the new module is straightforward enough for you to do it yourself.

Revs Dropping
Problem:
When you stop at traffic lights or a junction, the revs drop to between 100 and 200, making it feel like the engine might stall. However, it doesn't.
Solution:
The ignition cable is probably the cause. It's important to fix this quickly, as ignoring it could cause more damage to your ignition assembly. Visit our parts page for the Premacy, order a replacement, and fit your new ignition cable.

Erratic Braking
Problem:
The brakes are acting unpredictably and frequently fail to function altogether.
Solution:
The older your Premacy, the more likely it is that the front brake discs will warp. The only solution here is to replace the brake discs, which you can easily find in our store. Remember to check and replace the brake pads if the warped discs have caused excessive wear.

Oil Leaks
Problem:
Oil can be seen on the floor after the car has been parked for some time.
Solution:
On the Premacy, it's very common for the front shocks to leak oil after they have been used for some time. You're going to need to find new ones on our parts list and replace the worn ones.

Suspension problems
Problem:
Are you hearing a knocking or creaking noise coming from the suspension? This is usually caused by a fault with the anti-roll bar drop links. The knocking or creaking sound will be most noticeable when you drive over speed bumps or poorly surfaced roads.
Solution:
You will need to replace the anti-roll bar drop links to fix the issue.

ABS warning light
Problem:
Has the ABS warning light appeared on the dashboard of your Premacy? If it has, it is most likely caused by a faulty ABS wheel sensor. This is quite common on this vehicle.
Solution:
You will need to perform a diagnostic check to correctly identify which wheel has the faulty sensor. Once you've done that, you should fit a replacement ABS sensor to resolve the issue. This should turn off the warning light on the dashboard. We can assist you in finding a replacement ABS sensor at a very affordable price.

Corroded oil sump
Problem:
There have been known issues with the oil sump corroding on the Premacy. If you check underneath the car and notice oil on the ground and/or oil clinging to the bottom of the sump, this indicates corrosion.
Solution:
You will need to replace the oil sump to fix the problem.

Engine misfiring
Problem:
The coil pack is known to fail on the Premacy. If you find that the engine is misfiring and experiencing irregular revs, then a faulty coil pack is the most probable cause. The revs should remain steady instead of fluctuating. You might also notice a lack of power in the engine.
Solution:

Clutch Is Stuck To The Floor
Problem:
The clutch has stuck to the floor, and the car won't go into gear.
Solution:
Check your master cylinder and slave cylinder for leaks. If you find any, you'll need to order a replacement from BreakerYard. If there are no leaks, try bleeding the system and then top up the master cylinder if it's low needed.

Heavy Rattling From Car front
Problem:
When you accelerate, you can feel some heavy vibrations coming from the front of the car.
Solution:
The number 4 engine mounting bolt on a Premacy built between April 2005 and September 2007 was not tightened properly, which can cause occasional significant engine shakes. You can resolve this issue by locating and tightening the bolt.
