Mercedes-Benz CLC Class Common Problems and Solutions
Weak Heater Airflow
Problem:
The heater fan is quite feeble and might cease functioning entirely.
Solution:
If you're lucky, this is just a matter of replacing the brushes in the electric motor for the fan heater. However, in more serious cases, you'll need to replace the entire motor, which is a bit more challenging but still quite straightforward. We have both brushes and motors available to order.

Windscreen Wiper Fault
Problem:
Your single-arm wiper has begun to fail.
Solution:
The windscreen wiper on the CLC is put through its paces every time it's turned on. It has to adjust itself automatically, which means it experiences a lot of wear and will need replacing frequently. You can order a more practical wiper from our parts list that won’t require replacement as often.

Hesitant Acceleration (Blue Efficiency Diesel Models)
Problem:
The engine hesitates during acceleration and runs unevenly.
Solution:
The fuel injector system on Blue Efficiency diesel models is prone to quick failure and will need replacing with a more durable unit. This can be a very difficult job, but you can have your new injector system sent by BreakerYard, and there are many guides available that will guide you through the replacement process.

Burst Seat Stitching
Problem:
Your seats have developed a tear in the seat base.
Solution:
This is more likely to occur if you have a model with the part-leather trim, but it can affect all CLCs. You might try stitching the seams together, but if that’s too much trouble, you can order new seat covers from our online store.
Difficulty level
Noisy Door Mirrors
Problem:
The door mirrors make excessive noise when you adjust them.
Solution:
The door mirrors on the CLC-Class are very problematic. The folding and adjusting motors often fall out of sync with the main units. This can also happen to the integral indicator repeaters. It can be an expensive repair, but you can find well-priced motors in our shop, and fitting them is a time-consuming but simple DIY job.

Clunking Noise From Gearbox (All Automatics)
Problem:
Your automatic gearbox is producing a clunking noise during gear changes.
Solution:
You probably have a faulty transmission valve. If you don’t address it promptly, it could damage your gearbox and require a full replacement. Installing a new transmission valve is a precise task, but most people are capable of doing it. Order a new valve from our drop-down parts list for the CLC.

Corroded Alloy Wheels
Problem:
Your alloy wheels are corroding far more rapidly than you expect they should.
Solution:
Sadly, this is a frequent problem for CLC owners, especially if the wheels have scraped a kerb at some point. The good news is that new alloys are always available from BreakerYard, and we can deliver your replacements directly to you.

Rust
Problem:
The CLC-Class tends to rust. This can occur within just 2 or 3 years, with the wheel arches and/or lower sections of the doors appearing to be the most affected areas.
Solution:
You need to get the rust treated as soon as possible to prevent it from spreading. If the car is still under warranty, Mercedes might repair the issue free of charge under the warranty.

Headlight bulb failure
Problem:
The headlights on the CLC-Class are gas discharge lamps, and the bulbs are susceptible to moisture ingress. This causes the bulbs to fail.
Solution:
You will need to replace the headlight bulb to resolve the issue. Have a look at the video below to see how to change the headlight bulb on the CLC-Class.
