Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin Common Problems and Solutions
Tailgate not locking
Problem:
If you are finding that the tailgate is not locking when you apply the central locking system then this is a common problem.
Solution:
You will first need to remove the rear door trim panel and spray WD40 in and around the locking mechanism. You will need to apply this inside and outside and work the handles a few times. This should fix your problem.
Difficulty level
Engine management warning light
Problem:
The Lambda sensor can fail on this vehicle. If you have found that the engine management warning light has switched on the dashboard then this is the most likely cause. If it is the Lambda sensor at fault you will begin to notice a higher than usual fuel consumption.
Solution:
Run a diagnostic check to correctly identify the Lambda sensor is at fault. If it is, you will need to fit a replacement Lambda sensor to resolve the issue. We can help you find one at a very low price.

Poor performance/bad idling
Problem:
The throttle body can get clogged up with a carbon build up. This is a common issue on the Shogun Pinin and will result in poor performance and a lack of acceleration. You will notice that the engine has a very erratic idle. The needle will be jumping up and down instead of remaining at a constant speed.
Solution:
You will need to remove the throttle body and give it a clean out with something like a toothbrush and some carb cleaner. This should fix your problem, but if it does not then you will need to take it for an engine decoke. Check out the video below for an idea on how to clean the throttle body yourself:
