Nissan 300 ZX Common Problems and Solutions
Starting problems
Problem:
A very common part to fail on the 300ZX is the crank angle sensor. If it fails it will lead to starting problems, as there will be no spark to the engine. This part communicates with the ECU.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement crank angle sensor to sort this problem. Watch the video below for an idea of how to change this sensor:

Turbo failure
Problem:
If you are hearing a real whirring noise coming from the top of the engine, your turbo may be about to give up. You will most likely notice a real loss of power.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement turbo to resolve this issue.

Air conditioning problems
Problem:
It is known on the 300ZX for the air conditioning condenser to fail. If you have noticed that it will not blow out ice-cold air, or if some of the settings are not working, the most likely cause is the condenser failing.
Solution:
If you fit a replacement air conditioning condenser, this should sort the problem out.

Power steering failure
Problem:
A common failure with the power steering system is for the high-pressure power steering hose to fail. You may have noticed that the steering has become a bit heavy, or the power steering may not be working properly at all. The high-pressure hose failing will most likely cause this.
Solution:
Fitting a replacement high-pressure power steering hose will sort this problem.

Oil leak
Problem:
If you have noticed that there is an oil leak on your 300ZX, a common cause for this is the cam seals leaking.
Solution:
You will need to replace the cam seals to fix the problem.
