Nissan launched the GT-R in 2007, first unveiling it in Japan. It is a two door 2+2 sports coupe vehicle, designed as the successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R, although it is no longer a part of the Skyline collection. The GT-R has been a huge success for the Japanese manufacturer, winning a number of awards including Sports Car of the Year at the 2007 Top Gear Awards and World Performance Car of the Year in 2009.
