1st Gear and Reverse Gear Difficulties
Problem:
You're having difficulty engaging the car into 1st gear and reverse.
Solution:
Your gear linkages have worn out or been severely damaged. You'll need to replace the linkages, which is a very simple DIY task, and they are very low-cost when ordered from BreakerYard.

Problem:
When you accelerate, blue smoke emerges from your exhaust.
Solution:
This indicates that your cylinder bores have not been properly maintained and have become worn out. Check our parts list for new bores.

Problem:
You find it difficult to get the engine to start when it is cold.
Solution:
Your glow plugs have probably failed. These can be quite difficult to remove if they've been in for a long time, but fitting the new ones is very simple. You can have new glow plugs delivered while you tackle the challenging job of removing the old ones.

Overheating and White Smoke
Problem:
Your engine is overheating rapidly, and white smoke is emerging from the exhaust.
Solution:
The head gasket on the 106 is quite sturdy, but it can still fail from time to time. The good news is that we always have replacement head gaskets ready to order, and although this is a significant job that must be done carefully, most people are capable of carrying it out.

Clutch Pedal Stuck
Problem:
The clutch pedal has become stuck to the floor, preventing you from changing gear.
Solution:
If you have a cable-operated clutch, then the issue is likely with the cable being broken or disconnected. If it's disconnected, you can reattach it and secure it properly. If it's broken, find a replacement cable using our registration number search function. However, if you have a hydraulically operated clutch, then you'll need to replace either the cylinder seals or the cylinder itself.

Problem:
It is taking a long time for the car to come to a complete stop.
Solution:
This is a common issue in older models, likely caused by rusty front brake discs. Inspect your front callipers as well to see if they have been affected by corrosion, and order replacements from our parts page if necessary.

Squealing Noise From Front
Problem:
There is a squealing noise coming from the engine when it runs. Your power steering may also cease, and your air conditioning will stop working.
Solution:
The serpentine belt on the 106 has caused several complaints due to rapid wear. You will need to replace the belt, which can be delivered when you order through BreakerYard.

Leaking sunroof
Problem:
Water often leaks into the Peugeot 106 through the sunroof. This occurs because water seeps in around the screws of the sunroof handle.
Solution:
You need to apply some silicone into the hole where the screws are, which will stop the leak.

Problem:
It is common for the cylinder head gasket to fail on these vehicles. You might notice oil seeping from the top corners, especially from the top left corner. If this occurs, it could indicate that the cylinder head gasket is broken.
Solution:

Growling/knocking noise from exhaust
Problem:

The Catalytic converter will need to be replaced to resolve the issue. Although a new Catalytic converter can be quite expensive, you may be able to save money by having us replace it for you.

Problem:

Problem:
