Jittery Driving

Problem:

The 207 judders and jitters when you’re driving.

Models affected:

Solution:

There are three possible reasons for this problem. It could be the engine control parameters, a defective gearbox, or an issue with the engine mounts. Start by doing a diagnostics check. If that reveals no issues, then you’ll need to inspect the gearbox. If this is faulty, you will need to buy a replacement gearbox from our 207 parts list and replace it. If your gearbox looks fine, then the problem will be the engine mounts. You can buy them very easily, and replacing the defective ones is a lot easier than you think.

Solution:

This was a recall issue for the 207, caused by the incorrect specification being used for the fixing. In most cases, this will be corrected by a Peugeot dealer for free. If that’s not an option, then you may need to replace the entire fixing unit, which you can find on our parts list.

Models affected:

This is a down to a suspension damper failure, and you’re going to have to replace them. This issue will only tend to affect a car with a lot of mileage on the clock, but you can easily find a new set of dampers on our pages and replace the existing ones.

2

Turbo Failure

Problem:

The turbo function doesn’t kick in when applied.

Models affected:

Solution:

This is very common in the earlier models of the 207 and wasn’t rectified by Peugeot until 2006. It mostly affects 1.6-litre models, and it’s down to oil starvation. You’ll find that the oil supply pipes have become clogged by carbon deposits, and that means a time-consuming replacement task. You’ll need to replace your oil pump, the pick-up pipes, and the turbo itself. You can now buy these at a low cost from us, and installing them will usually take around thirty minutes.
