Peugeot 607 Common Problems and Solutions
Door Dropped
Problem:
The door has dropped down on its hinges, causing damage whenever you try to open or close it.
Solution:
This is very common on the 607, but it's quite an easy fix. It's a simple case of loose hinge screws, so open the door in order to access the hinges. Tighten them as much as you can. If the screws still feel loose, then you can order larger screws from our parts list. A temporary fix is to use matchsticks to take up the slack, but this won't last long.

PEF warning light
Problem:
The PEF, (Peugeot Emissions Filter) is the name given to the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), on Peugeot cars. It helps to remove harmful particles from the exhaust system. If you use the car mostly for driving around town, then the PEF is unable to reach high enough temperatures, in order to burn off these particles. This causes the PEF to clog up, hence bringing up the PEF warning light. Watch the video below about the PEF filter:
Solution:
You will need to take the car out onto the motorway, or A-road, so as to get the car up to a decent speed of around 2500 rpm for at least 15 minutes, to allow the PEF to heat up enough to burn off these particles. If this does not work, you can remove the PEF and clean it manually.

Tyre error message
Problem:
If the tyre error message has started to appear on the dashboard, and you have checked that all the tyres are inflated correctly, this is a common fault on the 607. The cause of this error message is a faulty wheel sensor.
Solution:
To fix this problem, you will need to fit a replacement wheel sensor.

Airbag warning light
Problem:
If you have begun to notice that the airbag warning light has appeared on the dashboard, this problem is usually caused by a loose wire. The usual location of the faulty wire is under one of the seats, and you must fix this issue quickly, as the airbag has been known to deploy due to this problem.
Solution:
As mentioned above, you will need to fix this problem quickly, by fixing the faulty wire. This in turn should remove the airbag warning light on the dashboard.
