Peugeot RCZ Common Problems and Solutions
Loss of Brake Power
Problem:
Your car has lost brake power, and there may be a leak of brake fluid.
Solution:
This is likely to be a worn-out front brake hose, a common flaw for RCZs built between 2009 and 2010. Look through our parts list and order a replacement for both front brake Flexi hoses.

Window Malfunction
Problem:
Some or all of your windows refuse to move up or down.
Solution:
This is fairly common on the RCZ and is down to a worn-out window control motor. Remove the door panel, have your replacement motor delivered by us, and install it to solve the issue.
Difficulty level
Rust On The Rails
Problem:
The aluminium roof rails have corroded and show excessive rust build-up.
Solution:
It may start off being purely an issue of aesthetics, but those rusting roof rails can lead to weaker end seals. That means they'll start to come loose and cause an annoying rattling sound. You can easily find replacement rails in our online store and install them yourself.
Difficulty level
Malfunctioning Fan
Problem:
The fan has stopped working, but all of the internal heater lights are working fine.
Solution:
Your first step should be to check your fuses and ordering replacements from BreakerYard if any have blown. If that doesn't solve the issue, then check the resistor on the fan itself. If that looks fine as well, then you'll need to replace the entire fan unit.

Rattling noise from drivers side air-vent
Problem:
If you can hear a rattling noise coming from the driver's side air-vent, when you are driving along at high speeds, this can be caused by the air-vent not being mounted correctly.
Solution:
Getting the air-vent packed out correctly will stop the rattle. This should still be covered under warranty.
Difficulty level
Interior leather sagging
Problem:
It is a common problem on the RCZ for the leather on the dashboard to sag, particularly around the air vents. This is caused by the direct sunlight.
Solution:
This is a very expensive repair, but may still be covered under warranty.
Difficulty level
Knocking noise from engine
Problem:
When you are either driving over bumps, or braking, or accelerating suddenly, and hear a knocking noise coming from the engine area, this is caused by early degradation of the engine mounts. This is common on these cars.
Solution:
It should still be covered by warranty, otherwise you will need to replace the engine mounts, so as to fix the problem.
Difficulty level
Whining noise from rear
Problem:
If you are hearing a loud whining noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, when driving at high speeds, this is caused by a loose exhaust heat shield.
Solution:
Tightening the heat shield will resolve the issue.
Difficulty level
Roof arches corrosion
Problem:
The RCZ can suffer with corrosion to the roof arches (these are the silver bars that go over the doors).
Solution:
They can be quite expensive to replace, but should still be covered under warranty (3 years or 60,000 miles).
Difficulty level
Door mirror fault
Problem:
There can be a couple of things wrong with the door mirrors on the RCZ. The first thing can be a loud creaking noise, when the mirrors are folded inwards, which can be caused by water ingress. The other fault is the electric mirrors not functioning correctly, which is caused by insufficient lubrication.
Solution:
To solve the first problem you can take the car to a Peugeot dealer, who will fix it under warranty, if the warranty is still valid. The second problem just needs some sufficient lubrication, which will again be covered under warranty, or if not you can do it yourself.
Difficulty level
Fuel leak
Problem:
You have a fuel leak, and the warning light is illuminated. You may struggle to start the car.
Solution:
The fuel heating device, which is integrated into the diesel fuel filter, is defective. It's allowing heat to build up, and in extreme cases, air will be getting into the fuel circuit. This caused a recall, and if your car isn't under warranty, then you'll need to order a replacement fuel heater from us. You may also need to replace the electrical connector.
