Peugeot RCZ Common Problems and Solutions
Loss of Brake Power
Problem:
Your car has lost braking power, and there might be a leak in the brake fluid.
Solution:
This is probably a worn-out front brake hose, a common issue for RCZs built between 2009 and 2010. Check our parts list and order replacements for both front brake Flexi hoses.

Window Malfunction
Problem:
Some or all of your windows will not move up or down.
Solution:
This issue is fairly common on the RCZ and is caused by a worn-out window control motor. Remove the door panel, have your replacement motor delivered by us, and install it to resolve the problem.

Rust On The Rails
Problem:
The aluminium roof rails have corroded and exhibit extensive rust accumulation.
Solution:
It may begin as a purely aesthetic issue, but those rusting roof rails can cause weaker end seals. This can lead to them coming loose and creating an irritating rattling noise. You can easily find replacement rails in our online store and fit them yourself.

Malfunctioning Fan
Problem:
The fan has stopped functioning, but all of the internal heater lights are working properly.
Solution:
Your first step should be to check your fuses and order replacements from BreakerYard if any have blown. If that doesn't resolve the problem, then inspect the resistor on the fan itself. If it looks fine as well, then you'll need to replace the entire fan unit.

Rattling noise from drivers side air-vent
Problem:
If you hear a rattling noise coming from the driver's side air vent while driving at high speeds, it may be caused by the air vent not being fitted correctly.
Solution:
Ensuring the air vent is packed out correctly will stop the rattle. This should still be covered by warranty.

Interior leather sagging
Problem:
It is a common issue on the RCZ for the leather on the dashboard to sag, particularly around the air vents. This occurs due to direct sunlight.
Solution:
This is a very costly repair, but it may still be covered under warranty.

Knocking noise from engine
Problem:
When you are either driving over bumps, braking, or accelerating suddenly, and hear a knocking noise from the engine area, this is caused by early degradation of the engine mounts. This is common on these cars.
Solution:
It should still be covered by warranty; otherwise, you will need to replace the engine mounts to resolve the issue.

Whining noise from rear
Problem:
If you hear a loud whining noise from the rear of the vehicle when driving at high speeds, it is caused by a loose exhaust heat shield.
Solution:
Securing the heat shield more firmly will solve the problem.

Roof arches corrosion
Problem:
The RCZ can experience corrosion on the roof arches (these are the silver bars that go over the doors).
Solution:
They can be quite expensive to replace, but should still be covered under warranty (3 years or 60,000 miles).

Door mirror fault
Problem:
There might be a couple of issues with the door mirrors on the RCZ. The first could be a loud creaking noise when the mirrors are folded inwards, which may be caused by water ingress. The second fault is the electric mirrors not working properly, often due to insufficient lubrication.
Solution:
To fix the first issue, you can take the car to a Peugeot dealer, who will repair it under warranty if the warranty is still valid. The second issue only requires some adequate lubrication, which will again be covered by the warranty, or if not, you can do it yourself.

Fuel leak
Problem:
You have a fuel leak, and the warning light is on. You might find it hard to start the car.
Solution:
The fuel heating device, which is integrated into the diesel fuel filter, is faulty. It allows heat to build up, and in extreme cases, air may enter the fuel circuit. This has led to a recall, and if your car isn't under warranty, you'll need to order a replacement fuel heater from us. You may also need to replace the electrical connector.
