Rover CityRover Common Problems and Solutions

Key fob problems

Problem:

The key fob can lose the code needed to open the doors and turn off the immobiliser, which means you cannot restart the vehicle. You will need to reset the key fob to resolve this issue. It is recommended that you check the battery first to ensure that this is not the cause of the failure.

Models affected:

Solution:

As mentioned above, you should check the battery first, but if this does not fix the problem you will need to reset the fob. You need to plug in the fob with the lead into a small socket on the drivers side and follow the instructions on this link here. Also have a look at this video for an idea what to do:

Fuel filler neck rusting

Problem:

The fuel filler neck is prone to rusting on the CityRover. Mud and other dirt can gather around this area and stick to it, causing rust. If left unattended, this will eventually lead to a hole and the possibility of losing fuel.

Models affected:

Solution:

You will need to remove the rear wheel and check around the fuel neck to remove the mud that's built up. This will allow you to check for rust. If there is a hole, you will need to replace the fuel neck to fix the problem. If the rust is not too bad, you can rub down the affected area and then seal over the neck to help stop it rusting so quickly.
