Gearbox problems
Problem:
Can you hear a whining noise coming from the gearbox? Does this seem to disappear when you apply the clutch? This noise is caused by the end plate bolts becoming sheared, resulting in a plate moving around and rubbing against the gears. This is a common issue on this car, which seems to be more noticeable at high speeds.
Solution:
You will need to remove the 5th gear cover, in order to gain access to these bolts. You will need to replace the bolts, in order to stop the plate from moving around. You are best to get this sorted asap, so as to avoid any further gearbox damage, which could result in high repair costs, if anything else becomes damaged.

Starting problems
Problem:
Are you having difficulty starting the car? Has the engine management warning light appeared on the dashboard? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then you most likely have a problem with the crankshaft position sensor. The video below, explains how the crankshaft position sensor works:
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement crankshaft position sensor, so as to fix the problem. We can help you to find a replacement crankshaft position sensor, at a very low price.

Engine misfiring/poor idling
Problem:
The ignition coils are known for failing on the Baleno. If these fail, you will notice that the car is misfiring and the engine idling will be very erratic, instead of the revs remaining at a constant speed.
Solution:
You will need to replace the ignition coils, in order to rectify the issue.

Car Won't Start While Engine Hot
Problem:
If you turn off the engine and then try to turn it on again a few minutes later, it won't turn over. You don't have the same problem if the engine has had a chance to cool down.
Solution:
This is something called 'hot soak', and it doesn't just affect the Baleno. The problem is fuel vaporising when you have turned off the engine. It's usually caused by a faulty fuel pump that will need replacing, which you can find easily on our parts page for the Baleno. Don't forget to check that the fuel return line is working too, as this can make fuel pump faults more serious.

Problem:
The ENG-A-STOP off light is blinking, and the ENG-A-STOP system has become inoperative.
Solution:
This is a problem caused by incorrect software in the ECM module. The ECM will have to be reprogrammed by a Suzuki dealer.

Engine Stall
Problem:
The engine stalls, and the water pump charging light will illuminate, as will the coolant temperature warning light.
Solution:
In models built between February 2016 and December 2017, there is a potential issue with the Integrated Starter Generator Belt breaking. The entire ISG belt will need to be ordered from BreakerYard and the faulty one replaced.
