Toyota Corolla Verso Common Problems and Solutions

Lack of power

Problem:

A common problem with many vehicles nowadays is the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve becoming blocked. This is caused by a build-up of black carbon soot, which restricts airflow and leads to a loss of power and poor performance. The Toyota Corolla Verso also experiences this issue. If you are dealing with this problem, you need to unblock the EGR valve.

Models affected:

Solution:

You will need to remove the EGR valve and clear out the black carbon soot. You can do this with a toothbrush and a screwdriver, and also by spraying some carb cleaner on it. Once you have cleaned the EGR valve, you can re-fit it, and this should fix your problem. You can watch the video below to see how this is done.

If this occurs at traffic lights, the engine must be turned off, and you will need to wait approximately 30-60 seconds before restarting. This can, of course, be very frustrating.

Solution:

These gearboxes are very complex, and it is advisable to have a professional inspect it for you.
