Vauxhall Zafira Common Problems and Solutions
The Front Seats Don't Lock Into Place
Problem:
The forward sliding of the front seats is stiff, and the seats do not lock securely into position.
Solution:
Always ensure your seats are securely locked in place. If they are not, you must repair them before driving the vehicle. If they still won't lock, you'll need to purchase a replacement seat and seat tray from our spare parts page. While replacing the front seats might seem like a big task, it is actually very simple.

Spongy Brakes
Problem:
The brake pedal feels spongy and unresponsive when pressed.
Solution:
Between 1999 and 2005, Zafiras were produced with faulty callipers. The spongy feeling you experience is caused by hydrogen gas entering the system. The only solution is to replace the front callipers on the driver and passenger sides, which are available from us, and then flush the brake system.

Coolant Light Warning Is On
Problem:
The engine coolant warning light remains on even after topping up.
Solution:
This will usually be a failed heat exchanger causing coolant to leak into the system. Fitting the replacement you purchase from us can be tricky, but many guides are available online. However, the issue could also be an incorrectly fitted overflow pipe, which could prevent the gearbox from receiving enough oil. Check this before installing your replacement heat exchanger.
