Side airbag needs reprogramming
There has been a problem with the programming of the side airbags on any Volkswagen Up built between Jan 2013 to March 2013.
These cars will need to be taken back to the manufacturer and re-programmed to resolve the issue. This problem was subject to a recall.
Intermittent power loss
If you have noticed that the car is losing power whilst driving, this is a common problem on these cars.
Volkswagen cars are known for issues with the dual mass flywheel, or it could be the main problem with the gearbox. Take it to a Volkswagen garage and have it checked out under warranty.
Reverse not engaging
There has been a known problem with the Up not engaging into reverse gear. This is an issue with the gearbox, which is the main concern with this car.
You will need to take the car into a VW dealer as they will fix the problem free of charge as the car is under warranty.
Unusual gearbox noise
When the car is idling there can be a loud noise coming from the gearbox and there is also an unusual noise coming from the gearbox when going up through the different gears. It is known by VW that the car has gear cluster rattle and a roll-over problem.
You are best taking the vehicle to a specialist to get the problem resolved. The car should still be under warranty, therefore will not cost you to get it fixed.
