Volvo S70 Common Problems and Solutions
Heater matrix failure
Problem:
If the heater matrix fails on your vehicle, there are two common symptoms of this failure. The first thing you will notice is that the heater is not blowing out hot air. The second thing will be wet carpets in the front footwells. If it has been leaking for a while, you may be smelling dampness from the carpets.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement heater matrix to resolve the issue. You will need to dry out the carpets, and possibly give them a clean if any dampness has set in. Watch the video below to see how to do this yourself:

Fuel flap failure
Problem:
The fuel flap hinges are known to break on the S70. The hinges are made of plastic meaning they do not last as long as metal ones. There is a revised fuel flap available with stronger hinges.
Solution:
You will need to fit the revised fuel flap to sort this problem.

ABS warning light
Problem:
Has the ABS warning light appeared on the dashboard of your S70? If so, this is usually caused by a fault with the ABS control module. This problem can be misleading as a faulty rear right ABS sensor will show as the fault on a diagnostic check when it is the control module itself at fault.
Solution:
Fitting a replacement ABS control module will fix the problem. The ABS warning light should also disappear from the dashboard.

Upper engine mount failure
Problem:
The upper engine mount (also known as the upper engine stabilizer) is prone to failure on the S70. If this part breaks, you will hear a loud knocking noise when you accelerate, or when you change gear. This part needs to be replaced.
Solution:
As mentioned above, you will need to fit a replacement upper engine mount to resolve the issue.
