Can the 2014 Jeep Cherokee compete with the likes of the Range Rover Evoque and Nissan Qashqai in the compact SUV market? The new 2014 Cherokee has some rather indifferent styling which seems to be a style that people either love or hate. Apart from the styling, this is a very well built vehicle which has excellent off-road capabilities. The Jeep Cherokee was first released in 1972 but the new fifth generation model is the first to be built under the merged company of Fiat Chrysler. Jeep is a division of Chrysler but with the merger it will benefit from the likes of multi-link suspension and a 9-speed ZF automatic gearbox. This much loved vehicle will not disappoint and will be available with 2.4 or 3.2L petrol engines for the US market but will also have a diesel range for the European market. One of the diesel engines available is the 2.0L Multijet II turbo diesel which has 140bhp and CO2 emissions of 139g/km. The interior design has a real quality feel to it and it comes with the Chrysler Uconnect infotainment system. It is of premium quality and also has soft touch materials. Prices for the new Cherokee will begin from around £25,000 but you will pay quite a bit more for the top of the range Cherokee Trailhawk.
