Lexus IS200History

The first generation (1998-2005) was also known as the Toyota Altezza in Japan and was designed by Toyota Corporation to compete in this class. This was a high class performance vehicle, and the IS200 was the European version, with the IS300 being sold in America. The design of the rear light cluster was innovative and would become known as the ‘Lexus-style’ lights and used on other vehicles. These vehicles had an upgrade in 2000 and the IS300 was introduced into the European market. The second generation (2005-present) is the current version in production and was completely redesigned, giving it a totally new look compared to its predecessor. The safety features on this version were great and the design used the new Lexus L-finesse design philosophy. This vehicle had a makeover in 2009 and introduced the convertible version of the IS200 and had some interior and mechanical upgrades to the IS range.
