Lexus IS200 Overview

The Lexus IS200 is classed as a compact executive car and is produced by the Japanese company Lexus, which is the luxury division of the Toyota Motor Corporation. The IS series is the Lexus entry level car into the luxury car sector. The IS200 first appeared on the European market in 1999 and was available in saloon and estate versions. The IS200 is a very reliable car, its well equipped and great to drive. They are very expensive and don’t have too much room in the rear but well worth considering as an option for an compact executive car. Lexus IS200History

The first generation (1998-2005) was also known as the Toyota Altezza in Japan and was designed by Toyota Corporation to compete in this class. This was a high class performance vehicle, and the IS200 was the European version, with the IS300 being sold in America. The design of the rear light cluster was innovative and would become known as the ‘Lexus-style’ lights and used on other vehicles. These vehicles had an upgrade in 2000 and the IS300 was introduced into the European market. The second generation (2005-present) is the current version in production and was completely redesigned, giving it a totally new look compared to its predecessor. The safety features on this version were great and the design used the new Lexus L-finesse design philosophy. This vehicle had a makeover in 2009 and introduced the convertible version of the IS200 and had some interior and mechanical upgrades to the IS range.

The 2.2L diesel version offers up to 55mpg and is the more economical of the two engines. Which engine does your Lexus IS200 have and how does it fair economically? The age, fuel type and engine size should be considered when thinking fuel economy.
