Lexus LS400 History

The first generation (1989-94) LS400 was first Lexus on the market and was to prove to be an instant success. The 4.0L V8 engine was extremely well built and the first version was only available as a 4-speed automatic. The LS400 had some great features to put it above some of its competitors. In 1992 there was a facelift version which had over 50 changes made.

The second generation (1994-2000) was slightly larger than its predecessor and had a lot of other differences whilst maintaining the same look as the previous version. The interior had a complete makeover, giving it a very luxurious look and feel. In 1997 it had a makeover and this version was available as a 5-speed automatic. The new version was more economical and the major changes were mechanical. The LS400 was replaced with the LS430 in 2000.
