Mercedes 311 CDI Overview

The Mercedes 311 CDI is classed as a light commercial vehicle which is produced by the German automobile manufacturing company Mercedes-Benz. This vehicle has been in production since 1995 and is part of the Mercedes Sprinter range. This same vehicle is also marketed as the Volkswagen Crafter, Volkswagen LT worldwide and the Dodge Sprinter in the USA. These vans are one of the best on the road, are very stylish and well built vehicles. They are very capable but are very expensive to buy and maintain. They handle really well and they hold their re-sale value well. If you can afford this vehicle they are well worth it. Does this sound like your experience of the 311 CDI?

Mercedes 311 CDI History

The first generation (1995-2006) was designed as a replacement for the Mercedes TN van and the Mercedes Sprinter won International Van of the year in its first year. This version is built on the T1N platform and was available in many different forms in both SWB and LWB versions. It was not released in the USA until 2001 where it was a very popular van. The second generation (2006-present) is built on the same VJX platform as the Ford Transit and is known for being extremely reliable and very robust. In the UK this version is used as for Ambulances by the NHS, and is used for many other things in different countries. This is the current version on the market.
