Renault 18 Overview

The Renault 18 is classed as a large family car which was produced by the French automobile manufacturing company Renault. This vehicle was produced as a replacement for the Renault 12 and was in production from 1978 to 1989. This was Renault's first true worldwide car, as it went on markets all around the world. They were seen as reliable cars which were not too bad on fuel at the time. They were pretty spacious and comfortable, but the suspension was not the best. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Renault 18?

Renault 18 History

The Renault 18 was introduced in 1978 and was only available as a 4-door saloon. This car replaced the Renault 12 which was getting a bit aged compared to competitors. In 1979 an estate version was released. The turbo version of the 18 arrived in 1981 and had a 1.6L petrol engine. The turbo diesel version was introduced soon after, with a 2.1L diesel engine which became the fastest car in this class. The second generation was introduced in 1983, which had some exterior changes. The 18 was replaced by the Renault 21 in 1986 and was removed from the market in the UK that year. In the rest of Europe it carried on until 1989.
