Renault Vel Satis Overview
The Renault Vel Satis is classed as an executive car which was produced by the French automobile manufacturing company Renault. This vehicle was in production from 2001 to 2009 and replaced the Renault Safrane which had been out of production from 2000. During its lifetime, the Vel Satis (which is short for Velocity Satisfaction) was the flagship vehicle for Renault and is considered to be the most expensive car ever built by Renault to date. As far as executive cars go, this is pretty cheap to buy, but is not the best to drive. They are luxurious, comfortable and spacious and well equipped. It never was to popular, and didn't sell as well as expected. Does this sound like your experience of this car?
Renault Vel Satis History
The Renault Vel Satis was introduced in 2001 as a replacement for the Renault Safrane and is built on the same platform as the Espace IV and Laguna. This car is unusually tall, which gives the passengers more head room but which received a bit criticism also. There is not particularly any great need for the extra height, but Renault wanted to give drivers an alternative executive car to the standard saloons that were the standard for these cars. The Vel Satis scored highly in the safety tests, a maximum 5 stars to be exact. When the car was facelifted in 2005, Renault UK decided to discontinue the car due to poor sales. It was discontinued in 2009 on other markets, to be replaced with the Renault Latitude.
