Toyota Lucida Overview

The Toyota Lucida is classed as a MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) and is produced by the Japanese motor vehicle manufacturing company Toyota. It was in production from 1990 until 2006. The Lucida is an import version of the Toyota Previa and would generally be a little cheaper. The Lucida can also be known as the Estima Lucida, as this vehicle is sold as the Estima in Japan. The Lucida is a little bit smaller than then Previa in size to fit with Japanese regulations. These vehicles are comfortable and are spacious inside, and seats up to seven people. They are quite reliable and have good engines. Worth considering if you are after a MPV. Does this sound like your experience of this vehicle?

Toyota Lucida History

The first generation Lucida (1990-2000) was introduced as a slightly smaller version of the Toyota Previa. They were both narrower and shorter than the Previa, and could also be known as the Estima Lucida. The smaller sized vehicle meant they fell into a lower tax band and also meant they were cheaper to import than the Previa. They still seated up to seven people and were available as rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. The second generation (2000-2006) would be the last generation of the Toyota Lucida and changed from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive. This version was mainly available as a 6-seater, but could also be imported as a 7-seater. The Estima Hybrid version was introduced here, having an electric motor and CVT gearbox.
