Volkswagen Crafter Overview

The Volkswagen Crafter is classed as a light commercial vehicle which is produced by the German automobile manufacturing company Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, which is a subsidiary of The Volkswagen Group. This vehicle is the largest of the 3-5 tonne vehicles produced by Volkswagen (VW) and is the third generation of the VW LT series. It has been in production since 2006 and is still in production today. Internally the Crafter is known as the LT3 and it is basically a rebadged Mercedes Sprinter but with a Volkswagen powertrain (engine, gearbox and other parts). These vans are extremely well built, are very spacious and comfortable and have some real quality engines. They are strong and powerful and definitely worth considering. Does this sound like your experience of the vehicle?

Volkswagen Crafter History

The Volkswagen Crafter arrived on the market in 2006, replacing the long serving LT. The LT had been in production for 31 years and the Crafter is known as the LT3 internally. This vehicle is a joint venture between the Volkswagen Group and Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes version is known as the Mercedes Sprinter and looks the same, but they have different drivetrains. These vehicles are seen as being a top of the range vans and certainly live up to that name. This is the current version in production.
