Mazda MX-3 Overview

The Mazda MX-3 is classed as a sports coupe and was produced by the Japanese car manufacturing company Mazda from 1992-98. This car is a four-seat hatchback coupe and is marketed under different names worldwide, such as the AZ-3 in Japan and the Eunos 30X in Australia. The MX-3 was a very popular car in the UK and came at a time when this type of car was just becoming popular on the market. They have very distinctive looks which are still stylish looking to this day. They handle well, are good fun to drive and are pretty well refined little cars. History

The Mazda MX-3 was introduced in 1992 and was built on Mazdas EC platform. It came at a good time when the GTi era was deteriorating and this new stylish hatchback was to become popular. This car was originally only available as a 1.6L but in 1994 the more powerful 1.8L engine was made available. 1994 saw a mild facelift to this car, with some new trims. In 1996 there was 100 special edition V6 SEs produced and also the V6 Equipe. That same year saw the first manual gearbox on the 1.6L version. Production of the MX-3 stopped in 1998.

The Mazda MX-3 was available as 1.6 or 1.8L petrol engines. The 1.6 is the more economical of the two engines offering up to 37mpg which is not bad for a sports coupe.
