Jaguar S-Type Overview
The Jaguar S-Type is classed as a mid-sized executive car and was produced by the British automobile company Jaguar. The S-Type name was once used for a Jaguar in the 60’s and was re-birthed in 1999 for the new modern era S-Type. The Jaguar range is an expensive but luxurious brand of cars, with the S-Type being a very comfortable, refined car which is great to drive, especially over long distances. This car is competing with the likes of the Mercedes E-Class, and fairs up well with its luxurious feel.
Jaguar S-Type History
The Jaguar S-Type was available in many different models. The first version to be produced was the X200 and could be recognised by its ‘u-shape’ design dashboard and was the only version to have the jaguar model ornament on the front of the bonnet. The next versions all had the logo on the grille, and were named by changing the last two digits, denoting the model year, e.g. X204 or X206.
The high performance S-Type-R version was introduced in 2002 to compete with the likes of the Mercedes E55 AMG and the BMW M5. The 2003 and 2005 models had slight makeovers to interior and exterior parts. The final S-Type was produced in 2008, and was then replaced by the Jaguar XF.
