The long awaited release of the next Ford Mondeo has been officially announced for release in the last quarter of 2014. This new version has sleek styling, and incorporates the new Ford front end design which is on the likes of the latest Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus. This latest Mondeo is more of a hatchback than it is a saloon and the new estate version is expected for release early in 2015. The new grille and headlight design is inspired by the Evo, taking the Ford Kinetic design in a new direction.
The 2014 Mondeo is available as a hybrid which has very low emissions and excellent fuel economy. The emissions levels are 99g/km of CO2 and 65mpg in terms of fuel economy. This is a petrol/electric hybrid which offers 188bhp with a 2.0L engine. There are two Hybrid versions: The standard Mondeo Hybrid, which we mentioned above and the Mondeo Energi. The Energi is a plug in hybrid which will allow up to 20 miles on the electric battery, where the standard Hybrid only offers a few miles powered by electric. The Energi offers around an excellent 100mpg of fuel economy.

Now for the part I am sure most of you are looking to hear, which is the expected UK price. The 2014 Mondeo is expected to begin at around £15,500 and a new top of the range version is expected to compete with the likes of the BMW 3-Series. This version is called the Ford Mondeo Vignale, with no price set for this as of yet.
Some of the engines on offer are expected to be: 1.0, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0L petrol EcoBoost engines and 1.5 and 2.0L TDCi diesel engines. The 1.5L EcoBoost is new to the range and the smaller 1.0L EcoBoost is only available for the European market.
The Mondeo will be available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes and for the first time there will be the option of a 4WD diesel version.
