Renault have seen a vast increase in their profits this year compared with the same period last year. It has been reported that the profits have increased by as much as twenty times! Yes you read right, 20 times! Most of the improvements have been in the European market compared with the poorer sales in emerging markets. This vast improvement has largely been due to the low cost Dacia brand and the introduction of several new models. In the first 6 months of 2014, Renault have declared profits of around £597million compared with the lowly profits of £31million in the first half of 2013. These figures show you just how vast an improvement it has been for the French automobile manufacturing company. Renault have sold more than 1.36 million vehicles up to June this year which is a 4.7% increase over the previous year. A Renault spokesman had this to say about the great improvements: "In the first half of the year, the strong performance of the group in Europe, driven by the success of new models... enabled the group to offset the sharp slowdown in its main emerging markets." Renault will be hoping that this trend continues for the rest of the year and into 2015 and if the profit increase was anything like the first six months of the year, they will be well happy.
