Honda Pilot Overview
The Honda Pilot is classed as a mid-sized SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) which is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Honda. This vehicle has been in production since 2002 and was designed to fill a gap in this sector for SUV's with 3 rows of seats. This vehicle is based on the Acura MDX luxury SUV and is designed on the same platform as the Honda Accord. This vehicle is not sold in the UK or Europe but is on sale almost everywhere else. The Pilot is a very spacious vehicle, except for the rear third row of seats which are more suited for children than adults, but has been greatly improved on the latest version. The fuel economy is not to bad for a vehicle of this type. They are very comfortable and great for a large family. The handling is not great and the steering is poor but they are well worth considering. Does this sound like your experience of this vehicle?
Honda Pilot History
The first generation (2003-08) was released in 2002 for the 2003 model year and was Honda's first SUV which could seat up to 8 people. These vehicles filled a gap in this sector and soon became a popular vehicle, especially in the US. In 2006 the Pilot had a facelift which mainly affected the lights and front grille design of the exterior and also an interior upgrade.
The second generation (2009-present) was slightly larger than its predecessor and received a new engine design. This version had a different interior design with some alterations also made to the exterior. This is the current version in production.
