Nissan Frontier Overview
The Nissan Frontier is classed as a pickup truck which is manufactured by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Nissan. These vehicles have been in production since 1997 and were replacements for the Nissan D21 series. The Frontier name is used for the North American market, where as this vehicle was marketed as the Nissan Navara in Asia.
The first generation is the D22 series which was a compact pickup and the second generation is the D40 series which is a mid-sized pickup. The Frontier is available in 4x4 or 2WD. These vehicles are very practical, good to drive and are very capable pick up trucks. They perform pretty well both on and off road. The V6 engines have reasonably good acceleration and the cab is pretty spacious but the rear seats in the double cab versions are very uncomfortable. Nissan Frontier History
The first generation (1997-2004) was known as the D22 and was a direct replacement for the previous D21-Series. The D22 was available in various versions, such as single and double cabs. In 2001 there was a facelift to the styling as Nissan went for a more aggressive styling to appeal to the younger generation.
The second generation (2004-present) was known as the D40 which is slightly larger than the previous version. This version is built on the F-platform and had a facelift in 2010. This is the current version on the market.

The Nissan Frontier has been available with the following
engines: 2.5, 2.7, 3.0 or 3.2L diesel and 2.4, 3.3 or 4.0L petrol engines. The diesel engines are the more economical, but the newer petrol engines can offer around 21mpg.
