Toyota HiAce Overview
The Toyota HiAce is a commercial van produced by the Japanese automobile company Toyota. The HiAce has been around a long time now, since 1967 and there are still versions in production today. There have been many different varieties of the HiAce, including: minivan, minibus and pick-up. The HiAce is very reliable and is a cheaper option to some of its competitors in this class, like the VW Transporter and Renault Trafic. It may not be as accomplished as some its competitors but a good choice if you are after a cheaper alternative.
Toyota HiAce History
The first generation (1967-77) is very rare to see on the roads now, and was originally available as a pick-up van, delivery van and commuter vehicle. The camper van version was known as the HiAce Commercial.
The second generation (1977-82) version offered a 2.2 diesel version as well as the standard petrol version. This changed some design features such as new headlights.
The third generation (1982-89) was the last time that a pick up version would be available.
The fourth generation (1989-2004) had a standard wheelbase and long wheelbase version available and these were also available in high roof versions. A bigger range of engines are available in this generation.
The fifth generation (2004 - present) is the current version in production and more gearbox options are available and a few different versions as well.
