Vauxhall VX220 Overview

The Vauxhall VX220 is classed as a Roadster sports car which is produced by the British automobile manufacturing company Vauxhall Motors. This car is known as the Opel Speedster on continental Europe and was inn production from 2000 to 2005. This car was a joint venture with Lotus Cars, and shares much the same parts as the Lotus Elise. They are very stylish little sports cars which are really good performance vehicles. They are known for their excellent handling but also for being hard to get into the cabin and not being the most comfortable ride. Despite the lack of comfort, they do have an amazingly good driving position and are very affordable for such a stylish looking car. Does this sound anything like your experience of this car?

Vauxhall VX220 History

The Vauxhall VX220 gave Vauxhall a real classy little sports car in their repertoire. This car was introduced in 2000 and came to be as part of a joint venture with Lotus. Lotus couldn't afford to design the next Elise, so needed a partner, and the VX220 was born. The Elise and VX220 were very similar but not identical. The cars high performance is due to an aluminium chassis and engine, with a body design made of glass-reinforced plastic. This lightweight structure helps in making the car handle extremely well. The top version of the VX220 can reach 60mph in 4.9 secs. The VX220 ceased production in 2005 and was replaced by the Vauxhall GT.
