Overview

The Saab 99 is a compact executive car which was produced by the Swedish automobile manufacturing company Saab. The 99 was in production between 1968 and 1984 and was eventually replaced by both the Saab 90 and Saab 900. This vehicle was available in coupe, combi-coupe, sedan and van variants. You do not see too many of these cars on the roads these days but this is a well built car which had some good safety features for its time. With no power steering, it is heavy to drive but is a spacious car, with plenty passenger room and was seen as being a well designed vehicle for its time. It also has decent performance and is a comfortable ride. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Saab 99?

History

As mentioned above, the Saab 99 was in production from 1968 to 1984. In 1965 Saab announced that they were to start work on a project called 'Project Gudmund' which they wanted to produce a larger version of their Saab 96. This project produced the Saab 99 which was first unveiled in November 1967. This was a very successful car during its lifetime but was eventually replaced by the Saab 90 in 1984 but the Saab 900 was a replacement compact executive car which was released back in 1978.
