Overview
The Jeep Patriot is a compact crossover SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) which is produced by the American automobile manufacturing company Chrysler. It is produced under the Jeep division of this company and has now been in production since 2006. This vehicle is one of the cheapest SUVs in the Jeep line up and one of the cheapest crossover SUVs on the market. This vehicle offers really good performance and the diesel engines are particularly good. It may not be the best looking of the Jeep vehicles on the market, and like many Jeep vehicles, the interior has a cheap look and feel to it. It does not have the off-road capabilities of other Jeeps but is a a very practical vehicle, offering plenty space and good comfort. It is also a reliable vehicle, which is very well equipped and has really good safety features. Does the above information sound anything like your experience of the Patriot?
History
The Jeep Patriot was introduced in 2006 for the 2007 model year. The Patriot is built on the Chrysler MK platform and is very similar in many ways to the Jeep Compass, although the Compass is more capable off road and has different styling. The Patriot won the 2008 4x4 of the year award in the UK and won the Green 4x4 of the year award in 2007. For the European market there is a 2.0L diesel engine available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A facelifted version of the Patriot was released in 2011 with some exterior and interior updates and the 2.2L diesel replaced the previous 2.0L diesel engine.
