Overview

The Mazda 121 is a supermini car which was produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Mazda. The 121 name has been used for several different Mazda vehicles from 1988 – 2000 over three different generations. The first generation was based on the Ford Festiva, the second generation was a rebadged Autozam Revue and the third generation a rebadged Ford Fiesta. The third generation version is a well refined vehicle which has some decent 16V engines. It is also a very reliable car which is well equipped and is a very economical vehicle. There is not much room in the rear passenger area and its looks are pretty dated now. Does any of the above sound like your experience of the 121?

History

The first generation (1988-91) was a rebadged Ford Festiva and has a very boxy design. It is built on Mazda DA platform and was available in 1.1L or 1.3L engines. The second generation (1991-95) was released in 1991 and was marketed as the 121 in Europe. This is a very bubble like saloon car which has very unconventional styling. This vehicle never really took off in Europe and was eventually replaced with the rebadged Ford Fiesta. The third generation (1996-2000) is a rebadged fourth generation Ford Fiesta which is really well built and owners wrote reviews saying they received a lot of satisfaction from the vehicle.
