Mazda6 Overview
The Mazda6 is classed as a mid-sized family car and is produced by the Japanese car manufacturing company Mazda. The Mazda6 replaced the Mazda 626 and was the first of the new Mazda design philosophy cars. It is designed on the same platform as its predecessor, and is basically the next generation 626, just the name changed for the new design philosophy. These cars are well made, very spacious and very affordable, making them a great choice and real competitor in the mid-sized family car class.
Mazda6 History
The first generation (2002-08) was available in hatchback, saloon and estate versions, which were built on the Mazda GG design platform and have a good choice of engines available too. This car had a real classy design and had good steering and suspension. There are all wheel drive versions available in Europe, Japan and Australia.
The second generation (2008-present) is the current version in production and is designed on the new GH platform. This version made some improvements to the car, such as the handling and interior space.
There are plans for a third generation car in 2013 which is planned to be smaller and lighter than its predecessor.

Fuel Economy
There have been a variety of
engines available for this car. The petrol engines are: 1.8, 2.0, 2.3, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.7L, and the diesel engines are 2.0 and 2.2L. The most economical of the range is the 2.2L diesel which offers up to 54mpg. The engine range in general is pretty good economically, but remember to think about fuel type, age and engine size when considering fuel economy.
Transmission
The first generation had a 4-speed sport automatic while the 5 and 6 speed automatic and 5 and 6 speed manual gearboxes are available for every version. Take a look at the
