Nissan S-Cargo Overview

The Nissan S-Cargo is classed as a retro van which was produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Nissan. This vehicle was in production from 1989 to 1992 and had a very controversial styling. This car had some serious influence from the French Citroen 2CV van which ceased production earlier that year. The Citroen 2CV van was very popular in Japan and this is why Nissan decided to create this strange looking little thing. They are cute little vans which make you smile, despite their controversial styling. They are reliable and could seat two people in the front with a folding rear seat which could seat a further two people. The storage space in the rear is not to bad considering the size of the vehicle and they are good around town. They do lack the power for motorway driving. Does this sound anything like your experience of the S-Cargo?

History

The Nissan S-Cargo was introduced in 1989 and was based on the Nissan Micra. The controversial but cute design of this vehicle was taken from the Citroen 2CV Van and was originally only intended for the Japanese market. Due to its popularity it ended up being exported to other countries, but was only available in right hand drive. The S-Cargo name has a double meaning: Small Cargo and Escargot, which is French for snail. The snail name is apt for this vehicle as it has similar looks to the snail. Its quirky looks always gets people looking and smiling. Production ceased in 1992.
