Peugeot 306 Overview
The Peugeot 306 is in the small family car class and was manufactured by the French automobile manufacturer Peugeot, which is part of the larger PSA Peugeot Citroen Company. The 306 was first built as a replacement to the 309 and was eventually itself replaced by the 307. The 306 has excellent handling and is great to drive. They are well built practical cars that come in many varieties, which can suit all types of drivers.
Peugeot 306 History
The Phase 1 (1993-97) Peugeot 306 was built upon the same platform as the Citroen ZX, and had almost identical mechanical parts, as they both come from the same company. These cars came in a variety of different types: hatchback, estate, saloon and cabriolet. There was also a wide variety of engines and trims, to suit many different types of customer. There was a selection of performance cars included in this range.
The Phase 2 306 (1997-99) was introduced to bring the 306 in-line with the new stream lined, rounded design of the modern Peugeot cars of the time. This mainly affected exterior parts such as the bumpers, lights and grille. A fresh update to the interior and a few new engines became available as well.
The Phase 3 (1999-2002) version again received some changes to the exterior, but not as much of a change as took place on the previous version. The interior was updated very slightly. This was the last of the 306 versions to be built. Production ceased in 2002 and was replaced by the 307.
