Peugeot 406 Overview

The Peugeot 406 is classed as a large family car and was produced by the French automobile manufacturers Peugeot, which is part of the lager PSA Peugeot Citroen Group. This car was produced from 1995 – 2004, with it replacing the Peugeot 405 in 1995 and was itself replaced by the 407 in 2004. This car is very spacious inside and is really good to drive. It is also cheap to buy compared with its class competitors, handles really well and is certainly worth considering if your are after a large family car.

Peugeot 406 History

The Peugeot 406 was first introduced in 1995 and replaced the 405. The 406 is built on the same platform as the Citroen Xantia, and it took many of its design features from its predecessor, the 405. The 406 had a very comprehensive choice of engines, especially their diesel range. This led the 406 diesel versions to become very popular and became one of Europe’s best selling diesel cars. The 406 received a makeover in 1999 and some much needed safety improvements. The first initial 406 version lacked in safety features and the now improved 406 scored better safety results in the Euro safety tests. A new engine range was introduced, the lights and grille were changed and some improvements to the interior design. The last 406 rolled off the production line in 2004.
