Renault 11 Overview

The Renault is classed as a small family car which was produced by the French automobile manufacturing company Renault. This vehicle was in production from 1983 to 1988, and is a hatchback which has a sister saloon version, the Renault 9. These are front wheel drive cars and were still in production in some countries as late as 2000 in Turkey. This car soon became very popular, and the Renault 9 version won the European car of the year in 1982. They were seen as being very reliable cars that were also very good performers. They were pretty well built but were not the best at handling. Although they were not the best looking cars, their reliability made up for it. Does this sound anything like your experience of this car?

Renault 11 History

The Renault 11 was introduced in 1983 and was introduced on the phase 2, which could be quite confusing. The Renault 9 was introduced in 1981, which was the phase 1 and this is the saloon version. Renault wanted to release a hatchback version of the Renault 9, calling it the Renault 11 which came in phase 2. They were both very popular cars. The phase 3 was released in 1987, being a much more aerodynamic version. The only place to see the phase 4 was Turkey, when it was released in 1997. The rest of Europe saw the end of these cars in 1988 when they were replaced with the Renault 19.
