Rover 100 series Overview
The Rover 100 series is classed as a supermini car which was produced by the British automobile manufacturing company the Rover group. The Rover 100 was in production from 1994 to 1998. The 100 name replaced the Metro name which had been used since 1990. These cars are very cheap to buy and handle really well. They are good little cars to drive which are also very reliable. The running costs are one of the major selling points of this car and have a reasonable amount of space for a car of this size. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Rover 100 series?
Rover 100 series History
The Rover 100 series replaced the Rover Metro in 1994. The previous versions of the Metro had been marketed as the Austin Metro, with the Austin name being dropped in 1990 due to low sales. The Rover 100 was not too different from its predecessor but was available with a diesel engine for the first time ever. The exterior was updated to give it a more modern look and the new interior design gave it a more luxurious feel inside the vehicle. The 100 series was criticised for being dated compared with its competitors and the once leading car of this class was now falling miles behind the competitors. This car was finally removed from production in 1998 with no direct replacement.
