Volvo S60 Overview
The Volvo S60 is in the compact executive class and is produced by the Swedish car manufacturing company Volvo. These are classy cars that compete with the likes of the BMW 3-series and Mercedes Benz C-Class. Volvo cars are known for their safety features and this is no exception, scoring high on safety. This car is luxurious inside and outside and is extremely comfortable and spacious. It has good handling but is not as refined as some of its competitors.
Volvo S60 History
The first generation S60 (2000-09) was built on the P2 design platform and was available as a compact sedan, which has features and look of a coupe. This car is a performance car and has been used in motorsport, such as touring car championships. It had a makeover in 2005, which affected exterior, interior and the 2.3 engine was replaced with the more powerful 2.4 version. In the UK this car was used for the police, which needed higher specifications and some extra parts to meet the needs of the Police.
The second generation (2010 - present) is the current model in production and the V60 was introduced in this generation. The V60 is the estate version of the S60. The latest engine range is very efficient, especially the diesel range. There has been some revolutionary safety features added to this vehicle, such as pedestrian detection. These are very well refined vehicles.

Fuel Economy
There is a vast range of
engines available for this car. The petrol engines are: 1.6, 2.0, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 and 3.0 and the diesel are 2.0 and 2.4L. The most economical of this range are the new D2, D3, D4 and DRIVe gearboxes, averaging around 65mpg. Always bear in mind the age, fuel type and engine size when considering fuel economy.
