The Vauxhall Astra is one of the most popular cars on sale in the UK. The Astra was first introduced in 1979 and is currently in its sixth generation. You can read our full Astra review by clicking here.
Do you like the Astra? Would you be interested in a sporty version of this car at a price which is not to much more expensive than the standard Astra? If yes to the above questions, you should check out the Astra GTC which is available at only £255 extra than the standard 5-door Astra hatchback.
Rather than buying a 3-door version of the standard Astra, you can get the sportier Astra GTC from only £18,495.
Vauxhall have aimed at making this car distinctive from the standard 5-door hatchback Astra and claim that the only things that are the same on these cars are the door handles and aerial.
The GTC has upgraded suspension including the 'HiPer' struts on the front suspension. The exterior design is stunning and the interior is similar to the standard hatchback, without compromising to much in terms of space in the rear.
The entry level 1.4L SRi petrol turbo is capable of 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds and offers 47mpg with CO2 emissions of 140g/km.
Our favourite version of the Astra GTC is the 2.0L CDTi SRi diesel which has 163bhp and is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This versions offers a fantastic 69mpg with 127g/km CO2 emissions. This version is capable of 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 131mph.
