Chrysler PT Cruiser Overview

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is classed as an MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) and was produced by the American automobile manufacturers The Chrysler Group. This car is available as a 5-door hatchback and a 2-door convertible, and was originally designed as the Plymouth PT Cruiser but this name was to be discontinued in 2000, so it took on the Chrysler name. This vehicle was in production from 2000 – 2010 and has a very distinctive styled design. The diesel engine is seen as being very strong and these vehicles are good fun to drive. They can be expensive to maintain and lose their value quickly. Does this sound anything like your experience of this vehicle?

Chrysler PT Cruiser History

The Chrysler PT Cruiser was a real retro design and gave it such a distinctive look, that you knew which car it was as soon as you saw it. The PT stands for ‘Personal Transport’ and also for the design platform, which is the Chrysler PT platform. The first PT Cruiser was produced in 2000 and the first convertible version in 2005. The design of the body of this vehicle never changed throughout its lifetime and it kept the same look but it did have a makeover in 2006 which changed the headlights and grille designs. This car didn’t score that great in the Euro safety tests, it only managed 3 out of 5 stars, where the issue was mainly on front impact collisions. In 2009 Chrysler decided to discontinue this car, and the 2010 model was the last one produced.
