Nissan Navara Overview

The Nissan Navara is a mid-sized pickup truck produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturers Nissan. This vehicle is more commonly known as the Nissan Frontier in the Americas and the Philippines and the Navara name is mainly used in Europe and Australasia. This vehicle was manufactured in two generations and the Navara name is taken from the Navarre region of Northern Spain. These vehicles can have a double cab which can seat 5 people and are very comfortable. There are some reliability concerns and it is not the greatest ride but they are one of the better pick up trucks on the market and the tax benefits are one of the Nissan Navara’s best selling points.

Nissan Navara History

The first generation D22 (1997-2004) was designed as a replacement for the Nissan Hardbody. In 2000 the crew cab version was released and was soon to become very popular. These vehicles were classed as compact pickups and had a makeover in 2000 for the 2001 model year which gave it a slightly different look and extended the available engine range. This version is still on sale in some countries as the smaller version to the newer D40 version. The second generation D40 (2004-2012) took over from the originally designed compact pickup truck and was produced for model year 2005 as a mid-sized pickup truck. The diesel engines are much more popular in Europe and the crew cab versions are also very popular. In 2010 this version had a slight makeover which mainly affected the exterior and some mechanical parts.
